Artists I Look Up To

Shaelin Shields

Shaelin Shields, my high school art teacher. Without her, I would have given up on art. Mrs. Shields has been the art teacher at Sacopee Valley High School for a little more than a couple years and has helped multiple students over the years. Not only is she an amazing teacher, but also an amazing artist.

Luna Barrionuevo

Luna Barrionuevo. She was in my art class senior year for a couple of months as she finished her teaching degree, she was a big help in my progress. For the short time that she was with my class, she was an amazing help. Now, I have the privilege to call her a coworker, and am excited to see how she helps her students.

Lexi Surette

Lexi Surette. One of my closest friends over the years. We were always in the same art class, and she was always one to outshine the rest of us. Lexi is now attending Savannah College of Art and Design.

Leonardo Da Vinci

Da Vinci was an Italian artist/inventor during the Renaissance. He was an active painter draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor, and architect. Da Vinci is widely regarded to have been a genius who epitomized the renaissance humanist ideal, and his works comprise a contribution to later generations of artists matched only by that of the young Michelangelo.

Rebecca Barrionuevo

Mrs. B, was my high school Spanish teacher. Throughout. the 4 years I had her, she was always excited to see my work, and she always had something positive to say. In a short few months, Mrs. B went from my teacher to a colleague. I haven’t seen any of her work, but her daughter has, and she says that it is where she gets her artistic abilities, so I have no doubt that, if her daughter is good, then she has to be.

Pablo Picasso

Picasso was a Spanish artist. He was a painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and theatre designer. Picasso was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and was a co-founder of the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpture, the co-inventor of collage, and a wide variety of different styles that he had helped develop and explore.

Vincent Van Gough

van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade, he created approximately 2100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of them in the last two years of his life.

Gaston Boulanger

Gaston Boulanger had the potential to become a well-known artist. However, known only to his family, he was a very well-developed painter. Some of what he would paint included the forest and deer, as our family is big into hunting, one of the only paintings of his I have seen is hanging on a wall at one of my familys buildings.
